Getting to Shanghai

Getting to Shanghai:

Lots of cribbage and Manchu Wok got us through the long wait for our first flight. Asiana air rocks! Great meals and service. They even gave us slippers, masks, and toothbrushes!

I took a sleeping pill that did nothing.

We watched Have you Heard About the Morgans (crappy!) and Shutter Island (scarry!) and before we knew it we were in Korea!

Koreans don't believe in garbage cans because Stu and I couldn't find any anywhere... but boy was the airport ever clean! and empty!

Our next flight served more food even though it was only an hour and a half long and I slept through the rest of it.

Once we got to Shanghai, I breathed a sigh of relief. We were finally here!!! ... but wait... where exactly were we and what did we have to do to get to our hostel?

The last MagLev was at 9:40 and it was 9:38 when we got to it... of course we got to it with no Chinese money and no ticket... (you have to understand that we got there at 9:30 and the MagLev was at the opposite end of the massive airport)..

Anyway, missed that by negative 2 minutes.
Next plan? the bus.

We had no Chinese money and the bank was closed. Finally we found an ATM machine that was not working for us... but then we realized the numbers on the ATM here are opposite of what they are in Canada and you can't just do the pattern out of habit without looking.
GOT OUR MONEY...

We were waiting for the number 4 bus with LOTS of other people when suddenly it arrived...
The bottom part of the bus lifted up and a lady got off the bus and started screaming at everyone in a language that we didn't understand.
Everyone was throwing their luggage in the underside compartment of the bus while they all screamed frantically.
We were pretty confused... no one was paying and everyone was getting on this little part of the back of the bus.
Finally, only Stuart was left with his bag not fitting with everyone else's stuff. I was already on the bus. The lady was screaming at him in a foreign language.
She helped him get his stuff on the bus and told us that ours was the last stop.
An hour and a half later we were... who knows where?
P.S. Cars don't stop for you at crosswalks.

We asked around and around and around (at 11:30pm) if ANYONE knew where DuoLong Rd. was.
Finally we found our hostel (which is quite nice but is a little smokey smelling)
and had a good night sleep.
I'm just waiting for Stu to wake up and we'll hit up the Expo!
